Roadside Attractions’ Upcoming Drama-Hope Gap

From Director and Writer William Nicholson comes a new family drama center around an older couple and their adult son. Nicholson is known for his work as a writer for Shadowlands and The Retreat From Moscow, as well as films such as Nell and Gladiator. He directed and wrote for the film Firelight and he adapted the beloved Les Misérables as a film. Hope Gap is also being produced by David M. Thompson,the founding head of BBC Films, and Sarada McDermott, an executive producer for the film Sometimes Always Never. It is also being executively produced by Hugo Heppell , Nicolas D. Sampson, Arno Hazebroek, Gavin Poolman, Alex Tate, Peter Gould, Norman Merry and Peter Hampde.

Hope Gap stars Annette Bening, Bill Nighy, and Josh O’Connor as an older married couple and their son respectively. The film focuses mainly on the relationship of the couple and its affects on their only son. After 29 years of marriage, a man decides that he wants to put an end to his relationship. This comes as an obvious shock to the man’s son when his father tells him of his plan to leave his mother. The impact on him causes an intense emotional fallout that their son must contend with. Meanwhile, unraveled and feeling displaced in her small seaside town, Grace ultimately regains her footing and discovers a new, powerful voice. The film will release for US audiences on March 6, 2020 and for UK audiences on 12 June, 2020.
