The Adapted Literary Classic- The Call of the Wild

Call of the Wild

An adaptation of the literary classic of the same name, The Call of the Wild tells the story of a big-hearted dog named Buck. Buck sees his blissful domestic life turned upside down when he is suddenly uprooted from his California home and transplanted to the exotic wilds of the Alaskan Yukon. Taking place during the Gold Rush of the 1890’s, Buck becomes the newest member- and eventually leader- of a mail delivery dog sled team. Buck experiences the adventure of a lifetime, ultimately finding his true place in the world and becoming his own master.

The Call of the Wild is a live-action/ animation hybrid using cutting edge visual effects and animation technology in order to render the animals in the film as fully photorealistic–and emotionally authentic–characters. The film itself stars Harrison Ford, Dan Stevens, Omar Sy, Karen Gillan, Bradley Whitford, and Colin Woodell. The Call of the Wild is directed by Chris Sanders, with the screenplay written by Michael Green based off of the novel of the same name by Jack London. Produced by Erwin Stoff and executively produced by Diana Pokorny , ‘The Call of the Wild releases to theaters on Friday February 21, 2020.
