This film review for ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ is one that will go into how well Wes Anderson can portray growing teens. Wes Anderson has a very recognizable directing style which returns in this film. Therefore, you are in for a very interesting film. Particularly because this film is mainly about children, we get an interesting coming of age film. Regardless of how you feel about that sort of film, it has a lot of drama between adults as well. On top of the drama, their is also the signature humor that can be found in one of Wes Anderson’s film.

Moonrise Kingdom starts off with two children writing to one another about the problems in their lives. We find out that these two kids are in love with one another. Therefore, the movie plays out with the two of them trying to run away and be by themselves. Nothing works out the way we want in real life however, so there are inevitably going to go wrong. They end up trying everything they can to stay together and keep others from tearing them apart. After all that they try, it works out for them to some degree in the end.

Wes Anderson always does an excellent job combining drama with comedy using his directing style. This film is no exception despite its premise centered around children. It feels more akin to a sort of Romeo and Juliet type of film and it’s beautiful. The child actors portray their characters perfectly, showing troubled youths who just want to be together. I hope that people read this film review for Moonrise Kingdom and just decide to watch it as an excellent Wes Anderson film.
