Film Review For Atlantis: The Lost Empire

By George Robbins

[usr 4.5]

This film review for the now classic animated film Atlantis: The Last Empire is go to emphasize just how much I love this film. As a child or now as an adult, this film has always meant a lot to me. Growing up, this was my go to animated film because it is a film that both adults and children can enjoy. For children, this film is an animated movie with a good amount of action to keep them entertained. On the adult side of things, the film is full of its dark moments that we can all understand. The film holds up well nowadays as it is animated. That is not the only reason it holds up, however.

‘Atlantis: The Lost Empire’ is a film that has a lot of static background while the characters are very much animated, which may sound like a bad thing but does not look bad at all. This animating style is what keeps children focused on what is going on in the film by giving them characters and objects they can latch on to. With that, children can always tell what objects are important to the plot moving forward and it can keep them engaged. For adults, the same can also be said because, although it is interesting to have things going on in the background, it takes away engagement from the film.

IN CONCLUSION

This film will always remain among my favorite animated films of all time. The characters, such as Milo the protagonist, have their plans laid out before them. This makes the film great to watch as the viewer wants to see them achieve their goals. There does not seem to be a villain in the film but there will be. This fact alone makes the film worth watching as you try to ready yourself for that. This film review for Atlantis was meant to illustrate how well the film is crafted.
