‘Avatar 2’ Filming Apparently 100% Complete

By George Robbins
Movies are having just a bit of a tough time as of now due to the fact that the pandemic has made people extremely wary of theaters. This isn’t really all that surprising considering everything we already know about what is currently going on. Theaters cannot seem to really draw people in because people are not willing to put themselves in harm’s way in order to just go see a movie. People are actually getting more used to being able to see movies from the comfort of their own home than going out to see them in theaters. This was actually something that has been witnessed fairly recently with the release of the movie ‘Tenet.’
The thing about the ‘Tenet’ release is that the release of the movie was handled differently than most other films that have been put out on the market. Warner Bros. still wanted the movie to have a theatrical release, but the issue of when to release the movie proved to be quite tenuous. For instance, no matter what date they came up with for a release, the movie had to be pushed back until theaters could open their doors. This eventually came to a head when theaters decided that they would be opening their doors by a specific time-frame, period. This ended up giving them a proper release window for their film, but the pandemic issue in the U.S. made things a bit more difficult.
In the weeks leading up to the release of ‘Tenet,’ the United States had a bad wave of infection cases. This made the studio decide to have an international release before there was a domestic release, but this only ended up being a weeks difference. This ended up working for them in the first weeks of release in both markets, but the following weeks have shown just how bad the market is. Almost no money was made on the film in the following weeks and theaters may just end up shutting down again, at least domestically. So with this in mind, more focus is currently being put into action on projects that are still being worked on.
If there is no guarantee of when exactly theaters will be able to show films, then studios just have to push back their release dates. This is happening now and many films have been pushed out of this year’s line-up which makes next year a pretty packed one, if things start looking up. There is no guarantee of what will end up happening over the next few months, but for now it would seem that movies in production will get to have a bit more leeway. This is good for a number of reasons, but the most important reason why this is so good is because it allows crews the opportunity to get work done without rushing. This means that we could get a lot of good movies coming up in the near future as it means movies will be of better quality.
One such movie that we are expecting high quality from is the sequel to the 2009 blockbuster ‘Avatar,’ which is aptly named ‘Avatar 2‘ right now. According to director James Cameron, the filming for the movie has been completely finished as of now, which just leaves a lot of post-production work to be done for the film. The movie is still expected by Cameron to make its late 2021 release date so they are still on a schedule, but they should have plenty of time to get the work done. They have been filming for a couple of months now, so it is nice to know that there weren’t really any hiccups with the movie and that we will get to see it in its glory. All we have to do now is wait until next year.
