Zack Snyder’s upcoming rendition of the ‘Justice League’ movie is one that fans have been looking forward to for quite some time now as it is a movie fans petitioned for since the original film’s release. When the original theatrical release of ‘Justice League’ was seen by the general public, many fans who had been looking forward to the movie ended up being disappointed by the end result of the whole thing. This was because a vast majority of what people originally thought was going to be in the movie ended up either being left out or changed in the final cut of the film. Therefore, fans immediately decided that they would petition so that they could get their hands on the version of the film that they originally wanted to view in theaters. Eventually, they would get their wish and now we will eventually be getting our hands on the version people wanted.
The new version of the film, aptly named the Snyder Cut of ‘Justice League,’ is a director’s cut of the original movie that is being worked on by the film’s original director Zack Snyder. Snyder was known for having started the DC Extended Universe, or DCEU, when he made the ‘Man of Steel’ movie. When he made that movie, he started the DCEU as a whole by giving it a central focus character that could be followed in a way that is similar to Iron Man and the MCU to some extent. Though, unlike the MCU, the direction taken by the DCEU was vastly different with the way that everything ended up playing out. The DCEU doesn’t necessarily have a build up like the MCU did and this immediately led to movies like ‘Batman v. Superman’ and ‘Justice League.’
Regardless of how those movies turned out or how they were received by the public, the fact remains that Zack Snyder is the director responsible for starting all of this under Warner Bros’. banner. He was meant to be the director for ‘Justice League’ but he unfortunately had to drop out of the movie after a certain point as his family was dealing with a tragic loss which affected him very much for a long time. After he had to leave the director’s chair, the chair was taken up by director Joss Whedon who has become the subject of a lot of backlash back then and even now due to information coming out about his apparent conduct on set. If it was not for the unfortunate loss Snyder suffered, he would have remained the director and we would have probably received a movie more in-line with what fans were expecting. Now though, we are getting an even bigger and more spectacle based version of the film we probably would have never had otherwise.
Back in May, earlier this year, we found out that the new version of ‘Justice League’ would be making its way to the public by some time in the earlier part of 2021. What we didn’t know was that the movie would actually be an entirely new experience for us to bear witness to as it isn’t just a movie anymore. In fact, the movie has now been turned into a four-part miniseries TV Show that will play in one hour increments, effectively making it a four-hour film that no one would have ever expected. Beyond just making the film longer with unused footage or something though, the movie is being made longer with what is essentially entirely new content. Unfortunately for fans who want to see the consequences of all of this that is going to happen in the movie, it will apparently not be made canon. The movie will be considered a standalone film where the original theatrical cut will be considered the canon film for simplicity’s sake.
This news that the new Snyder Cut of ‘Justice League’ is not going to be canon is a disappointment to many fans before the movie has even had its premiere because they have heard enough about the film where they think it should be the proper continuation. The main villain of the film is meant to be Darkseid who is known as a good DC equivalent to Thanos from the MCU and many believed he was going to be the main villain of the theatrical cut. Unfortunately this did not end up being the case and he was only mentioned in the original cut whereas his lieutenant Steppenwolf became the main villain. Now that he has played the role of Darkseid in the upcoming cut, actor Ray Porter is hoping that they change their minds and decide to make more content that follows this cut’s continuity so he can play the villain once again in some way. Needless to say, this is an idea I’m sure many fans would love to get behind and maybe we will hear something about this after the Snyder cut releases to the public.

It is not really news to anyone at this point that movie theaters are in trouble due to the pandemic we have all found ourselves trapped in and this has only gotten worse as time has gone on. Movie theaters were immediately put under threat when the pandemic began because they were easily one of the most populated types of businesses out there. Of course with a pandemic, as we’ve all learned by this point, people are supposed to stay away from one another and not get within a certain distance to prevent disease from spreading. Unfortunately, there are many people who are choosing not to listen to this advice from medical experts and it is resulting in more and more people contracting the virus and getting sick. This has made it all the more difficult for theaters to actually open up their doors to the public and simultaneously stay open for any decent length of time.
Back in March, theaters had to shut down without any kind of concrete certainty as to when they would have to reopen their doors to the public to resume making some kind of revenue. As a result, there were questions as to what would come first, a vaccine or theaters being able to reopen with restrictions. Obviously, most bets were on the latter option and eventually that was what happened and theaters were able to reopen their doors to the public but with heavy restrictions which limited capacity. On top of limited capacity, theaters were also forced to adhere to the new rules that were put in place which also made it so that people had to follow social distancing rules. All-in-all this is what was expected to happen, but the problem quickly became how theaters would actually get people to come back as they had nothing new to show.
Theaters only really thrive off the fact that they get people to come in by showing off new movies in what is essentially an exclusivity deal with studios. They get movies from studios to show in return for exclusive windows where the only way people can see those movies is by going to theaters. On top of this, they sell concessions to make up for the fact that they only get a percentage of what is made off every ticket as the studios take a good portion of the money made from each ticket. Needless to say, they needed movies to get people in seat in their theaters, but they had no real way of doing so as studios weren’t sure about releasing films even if theaters were open to the public. It took AMC theaters saying that they were opening in mid-August regardless of what happens to finally give studios the chance to release their films.
Even with the announcements that there would actually be theaters opened up to the public everywhere, studios were still hesitant because of the pandemic as a whole. The studio that ended up taking the leap was Warner Bros. in the end because they really wanted to get their new movie ‘Tenet’ out into the world. What Warner had planned was that they were going to release the movie to international audiences first and then they were going to release the movie domestically next. The thing that many people were unsure of was when exactly they would end up doing that and when AMC made their opening announcement, Warner told people their plan. The end of August would see the international release of the film while the next week would see the domestic release. The first weeks were great for the film as they brought in about $150 million, but the following weeks ended up being nothing but a let down as the movie only brought in a few million domestically.
While a few million may not sound all that bad to the general public, it is actually pretty bad for the movie industry after taking into account the fact that all of those profits are split. With those profits being split, Warner Bros. needed the movie to bring in about $500 million before marketing costs to cover the overall production of the film. After all of this happened, other movie studios finally had all the proof they needed that this is most certainly not the climate to release their films in and they all pushed back the release dates of their films. With that, theaters essentially lost all of the upcoming blockbusters that could bring people through their front doors and they just started hemorrhaging money to try and stay open. It was after all of this that Regal Cinemas just decided to keep their doors shut to the public for the foreseeable future in order to try and save as much money as possible.
Movie theaters everywhere are sharing the same fate as they are all losing money hand-over-fist with no new movies to show and some aren’t even allowed to sell concessions, adding to the pain. Now it would seem that domestic theaters are not the only ones suffering as it would seem that movies theaters in the United Kingdom are going to be shutting their doors as well. Just like domestic theaters, theaters in the U.K. have been losing money trying to stay open and with this new wave of virus cases coming up, theaters there have decided to shut their doors. That being said, movie productions taking place in the U.K. will not be shutting down as they are in their own enclosed environments where they don’t really interact with many other people. So the fact remains that we will still have plenty of movies on the release line-up after the pandemic ends, but we may not have theaters as many are going under now.

Over this past weekend we saw the passing of yet another Halloween, though this year was far different from anything that we’ve seen before. With the pandemic, this year’s Halloween was much more complicated than any previous year’s and it most certainly shown through. This is because people had to do things far differently this year as opposed to any other year, but this isn’t any kind of actual surprise to anybody. We expected things to be complicated and people made the appropriate plans to hang out and spend time together, if possible. Those who couldn’t found other ways to relax and enjoy the holiday instead of just sitting around twiddling their thumbs. Of course that usually involves watching spooky and scary films which is a good alternative to doing nothing.
Over the holiday weekend, plenty of news has come out in regards to horror movies in general and it has been interesting to see what may be in the works in the possible future. Without a doubt the biggest one on everyone’s minds has been the teaser for ‘Halloween Kills‘ that released over the weekend. While not too much was shown about the upcoming entry to the ‘Halloween‘ franchise, there was plenty enough shown to make potential audiences excited for the film. Unfortunately, while the film was originally planned to have its release this past month, it couldn’t release because of the pandemic. Therefore, they did the only rational thing they could, they pushed it back an entire year to next October so that the movie’s release would fit into a fitting time slot.
Although there was over a year’s delay for the film, that doesn’t change the fact that the movie is still very much one that people are looking forward to seeing. The ‘Halloween’ series is one that horror movie buffs have loved for years, but no one can deny that the quality of the films had degraded severely over the years. This was just the tradition of slasher movies as there was little that could really be done with them in future sequels. There was plenty of popularity with those films which led to many different sequels being made over time, but you can’t really change the stories all that much as the entertainment value just became how people were killed in the film. It isn’t like people went to go see those movies for the plot, but things just kept getting more and more ridiculous in horror movies as time went on.
The ‘Halloween’ series is a prime example of a series where the main villain of the film just became something insanely powerful and un-killable as time went on. Michael Myers was just a man who suffered from psychosis which led to him essentially becoming obsessed with someone and trying to kill them and everyone else who got in his way. Although this is scary enough on its own, he was also tough, but originally not tough enough not to be stopped. The thing is, he was still a man no matter how people decided to look at his character, but in order to keep the story going in multiple sequels they essentially made him an immortal being that couldn’t be killed. This resulted in an eventual reboot for the series in which he was no longer this un-killable being, but he was kept just as terrifying. After all, the scariest part about him is the fact that he was just a normal man with a terrifying psychosis.
After the first reboot however, there was still not really any interest in the character by fans of the series because the story just wasn’t all that great. What changed since the original movies’ releases was the fact that people were no longer interested in the ridiculous ways in which horror movie plots played out and plots became more intrinsic to horror movies over time. This is where Blumhouse Productions came into things; and the movies they have made have helped shape the new generation of horror films. Blumhouse is responsible for the creation of numerous horror films which have been made on low budgets which have turned out to generate an incredibly high amount of revenue as time has gone on. Not only have the films been spooky in their own right, but their stories have caught people’s attention and brought people in to see them.
Blumhouse has been the company that is responsible for helping bridging the gap between the old style of horror movies and the newest generation of them. These new-school horror films have drawn countless attention from people over the years now and it has helped Blumhouse to be able to do bigger things in the horror industry. Perhaps the biggest thing they have done recently is take ‘Halloween’ and bring it back to the public properly with ‘Halloween‘ 2018. This version of the film is a direct sequel to the original 1978 film and instead of following the ridiculous storylines told in the older films, just goes back to the original story of the character. This time, the horror was ramped up as it brought back everything that made people fear the character to begin with.
Needless to say, Blumhouse has done something incredible with the characters they were given to work with and this reboot revitalized the franchise so well that they were allowed to make a new trilogy. ‘Halloween Kills’ is only the second film in this new trilogy and while we may now have to wait for it, people are nothing but excited for it due to how well Blumhouse had done the reboot. This made it extremely apparent to anyone who was skeptical of the studio that they know how to also handle existing properties and not just new ones they’ve made up themselves. With this in mind, Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum has been trying to convince people that his studio can now handle other existing properties. He’s been putting forth the notion that not only can he handle them, he can handle them well enough to make people proud of the work being done.
With all of this in mind, Blum has been trying to get his hands on the rights to reboot the ‘Friday the 13th‘ franchise that so many people have loved over the years. The original movie was made as a way for people to cash in on the original ‘Halloween’ after it was discovered that there was plenty of money to be made within the slasher genre. While the movie itself was nothing the write home about, the movie ended up having a twist that nobody saw coming. Also, while the actual acting left much to be desired, there was an interesting plot tucked away in that slasher film that led to an entirely new experience being birthed out of it in the future. The first film was at least somewhat realistic because it was similar to ‘Halloween’ with someone with a terrifying psychosis being the killer. What followed in future ‘Friday the 13th’ films was something that suffered from the same fate as the ‘Halloween’ movies.
The ‘Friday the 13th’ films brought in a supernatural element to them, but unlike the ‘Halloween’ films, this was something that actually kind of helped the movies. When people think of the ‘Friday the 13th’ series, they don’t really think of the original slasher, Mrs. Voorhees, and they instead think about the iconic Jason Voorhees. While Jason was not originally this unbelievably powerful being that couldn’t be killed, he evolved into that as time went on and this version of him became the most popular. The original version of him is popular as well, but the most popular version that people remember is Voorhees as the supernatural monster he was. Unfortunately the plot of those films declined which is saying something since the plots were never played out very well anyway.
Jason Blum has said that he would like to take on the ‘Friday the 13th’ franchise in the future when asked what project he would like to take on next. He still has a lot of work ahead of him with the remaining ‘Halloween’ reboot films over the next couple of years, but he has said he would love to work on a reboot of the iconic slasher franchise. The biggest problem that arises when talking about working on an upcoming reboot for the films is the fact that there have been a number of attempts since Michael Bay’s 2009 version of the film, but legal rights issues keep cropping up when talking about the series. This would be a massive obstacle that would need to be overcome, but it would be one that I’m certain Blum would try to get through to make more films from the beloved slasher franchise. Hopefully in the not too distant future we get to see news where Blumhouse will be able to work on the film.

Just this previous weekend, we saw the release of a film that we never would have imagined that we would actually end up seeing any time soon, ‘Borat 2.’ The movie was suddenly announced after it was discovered that people noticed actor Sacha Baron Cohen dressed as the titular character driving around in a used car. It turns out that the film was not only already done filming, but also that the movie was screened for executives and was in the process of being developed enough that it would be available for people to watch it. The question after that was just how were they going to screen the film for audiences and how would the film turn out. It turns out that we did not have to wait long to find out as, just after it was announced that the film actually existed, Amazon announced that the film would be available on Prime Video for people to watch.
Not only was it announced that it would be available on Prime Video, but it was also announced that the movie would be out on the platform before the end of October. Thus, on Friday October 23rd, ‘Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm,’ or simply ‘Borat 2,’ was released to the public. Although the movie was released on Prime Video and it is free to Prime users, the fact remains that there is a subscription for Prime that must be paid to watch the film. Just like any other Prime titles, this is nothing new, but it was a surprise to find out that the movie actually performed exceedingly well even though it was released in such a way. So how do they actually measure that metric, they base it on viewership, and more specifically, the number of people signed into their accounts to watch the film.
What came as a result of this check in viewership is the fact that ‘Borat 2’ managed to outperform the movie ‘Mulan’ when comparing the two films’ opening weekends. The release of ‘Mulan’ was one that ended up being plagued by a variety of different issues, but even so, the film performed relatively well on Disney+. Despite the number of controversies that ended up surrounding the movie, the fact remains that the movie did actually manage to raise viewership on the platform despite the issues people had with the film. While suffering overseas in China where they had hoped the film would do well, it actually managed to make Disney+ even more poignant as a platform, especially in the view of Disney themselves. This has even helped Disney to shift their main focus to streaming some of their upcoming titles as well instead of waiting for theaters to become a viable option.
Considering how much of an increase Disney reported to their sight after the release of ‘Mulan,’ it is sort of surprising to hear that ‘Borat 2’ ended up being so successful in getting high viewership numbers. At the same time, it isn’t all that surprising because not as many people were excited about the release of ‘Mulan’ as they were for ‘Borat 2.’ This is mainly because no one thought that ‘Borat 2’ would ever exist in their lifetimes considering what was said already about the retiring of the character. Also, a good portion of the people who saw ‘Mulan’ were just trying to see how well the movie held up as a live-action version of the original animated film whereas people watching ‘Borat 2’ just wanted to experience the new film. In either case, these two releases have been a huge plus to digital releases as a whole and are helping the current market.

This year has been an arduous one and it isn’t quite over yet, but that doesn’t mean that once the year ends that things will not be any easier for us. We have been blaming this year itself for everything that is going wrong, but just because the number of the year is going to change doesn’t necessarily mean that the year itself will be better. The truth is that we are going to be stuck with this pandemic until some form of vaccine is found and from how things have been going thus far, it may be awhile yet. Hence, we need to start looking forward to how we are going to deal with the pandemic and its affects going into next year. One industry that has shown that they are trying to make the best of this whole situation is the movie industry as a whole.
The film industry is one of the industries that has had a relatively rough go of things ever since this whole pandemic began back in March earlier this year. At first, just like any other businesses, everything involved with the film industry had to shut down when the pandemic first began. This was a shared struggle that literally every public business had to contend with as the pandemic first started. What followed were months where pretty much nothing was allowed to happen and it was up to individual governments to allow businesses the opportunity to reopen their doors. Unfortunately for the movie industry, most of what they do is considered high-risk in regards to the spread of the virus, so they ended up being near-last on every single list.
Since every facet of the film industry essentially ended up being last on every single list when it came to who was allowed to reopen or resume business, they sort of fell behind. It really isn’t anybody’s fault that this is how things turned out as it was simply the natural progression of how the rules work during this pandemic. Of course not allowing high traffic locations or operations to resume would be the natural course of events after what we have seen happen so far. Eventually though, movie productions were slowly given the green light to resume their filming processes and movies that hadn’t started filming yet ended up becoming planned out ahead of time. Movie theaters, which are the backbone for movie studios making back their money on films, and then some, were simultaneously given the green light to reopen.
Even though movie theaters were given the green light to reopen their doors to the public, they were still considered high risk and they weren’t all given permission. Some governments took even longer to allow theaters to reopen their doors given the high risk areas they are in, but eventually they relented. Of course, there were rules that were made up to follow new health and safety guidelines that have been put into place that theaters also had to adhere to. Even though things were set up to be difficult for theaters to follow, they still managed to come up with ways to reopen to the public. Thus, they then spent a fair bit of time trying to come up with something that would bring people back as no new films had released yet. This is where a large majority of their issues then came from and it has unfortunately affected how the film industry as a whole now functions.
After movie theaters were able to reopen their doors all over the place, the problem they faced was even bigger than anticipated. It turns out that movie theaters need new movies to show to the public otherwise people will have no reason to go out to theaters. So despite being able to open up, theaters remained closed for the most part because they needed studios to give them films that they could show to the public. Thus a dance began wherein theaters simply waited until studios decided on a release date for their films and studios waited for theaters to open before they decided on a release. Finally, after about a month of this, AMC broke the stalemate and decided that their theaters would all reopen by the middle of August.
This whole dance between studios and theaters began when there was a surge in virus cases that got everyone rightfully worried about what would happen next. After AMC decided that they would be opening up regardless of what happens, Warner Bros. was the first studio to follow suit by saying they would finally release their new blockbuster ‘Tenet.’ For a long time, they were trying to decide exactly when they were going to release this film because of the aforementioned surge and the dance that happened. With all of that going on, they decided to release the film first internationally and then they would follow-up in the near future with a domestic release. Luckily for them at the time, they wouldn’t have to wait long as they released the film in both markets one week after the other.
Considering the fact that it was the first time since the pandemic began that there was a new blockbuster, it could be seen both ways as both a good and bad thing that the movie brought in $150 million in those two weeks. Good because it did a good job of bringing in a fair amount with everything that has been going on, and bad because in both markets it only brought in that much while being the aforementioned first blockbuster since March to release. It is debatable as to whether the first two weeks were really all that great but in comparison with what followed, it most definitely was. For a few weeks following the film’s release domestically, the box office dropped tremendously to the point where many would probably consider it to be a failure. The movie needs a lot of money back in order for it to even break even but after only the third week domestically it was barely bringing in a few million.
With the, what some would consider, failed release of ‘Tenet’ many studios immediately pulled out most of their films from this year’s line-up. They have either decided to put their movies on the backburner for now with no official release dates, or they have picked dates that go well into some time next year. What happened with ‘Tenet’ was simply fear from the public that going out to a movie theater presents a large risk of becoming infected and even with the new rules in place for theaters, this fear is not unfounded. It has been awhile now since ‘Tenet’s’ launch, but the fact remains that it is still clear on many people’s minds that theaters are in trouble after this. Regal Cinemas even closed up all of their theaters because they didn’t want to lose anymore money with people no longer coming in.
Despite everything that is happening within the movie theater industry right now, the larger film industry is trying their best to move forward with their plans. There are still many films in the making that have not stopped being worked on, save for those with temporary shut downs due to confirmed Covid-19 cases. Ever since filming productions had resumed, many projects have been working very hard to finish up as soon as possible. Whether this be just to save time for post-production or preparing for more planned projects coming up, there is no doubt that the production side of the industry is working very hard. Even though their films will not end up releasing for quite awhile still, studios are still building up their repertoires in order to have catalogs of films available for when theaters eventually manage to reopen, and they can actually bring people in.
One such studio that is working very hard to ensure that they have content ready to roll out to the public after the pandemic is over, or at least handles better, is Marvel Studios. The folks behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU, have continued to work hard even now to try and get their upcoming films worked on. As we all know by now, they have their projects split up into Phases that we have seen play out over the years, but this pandemic has thrown them off just a bit. While much of what they have planned is still scheduled to release in relatively the same way, their movies have all had to adjust in some way shape or form. The order that we may see those upcoming films worked on and released may end up being changed as time goes on. Despite that, it is clear that we will be seeing a lot of work going into those upcoming films soon and this next year may just end up being a big one for the MCU.
While no MCU films were able to be shown on the big screen this year, we know that they were certainly not slouching and they have been working on their upcoming films. Just recently, they even announced that they finished filming ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ and that it is now entering post-production phase. This upcoming year is going to be an even bigger and more important year for them in terms of production since we still aren’t sure how things are going to turn out with this pandemic. What we already know is that they plan on starting production for ‘Ant-Man 3’ in June despite it not even having been announced as part of their next phase. We also know that they will be working on TV shows that will premiere on Disney+ such as ‘Moon Knight’ which has just been announced with actor Oscar Isaac taking the leading role.
With all of this in mind, the next production that they will be putting all of their work towards is ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ which is the much-anticipated fourth Thor film. While we are still none too sure about what the main plot of the film will focus on, some bits and pieces have been floated out there since the announcement of the film. The story will see the return of one Jane Foster played by Natalie Portman and some believe, with hints from the actress, that this movie will see her character become the female Thor to some degree. She has already stated that Foster will wield the mighty hammer Mjolnir in the upcoming film, but whether or not this is true will remain to be seen when more information about the movie becomes available. We also don’t quite know what the name of the villain for the upcoming film will be either.
Things are starting to come together for the upcoming film as actor Christian Bale has recently arrived in Australia to prepare for the upcoming production. While we may not know who the villain for the upcoming film will be, we do know that Bale will be the one playing the role of the villain in this upcoming film. We also know that the film is meant to start filming in early 2021 and more specifically than that, it will begin filming in January. Needless to say, their preparing for the film now is helping out a lot in the long run as it will make it easy for them to transition into actually starting the production. That is to say that many people just need to hope that things go smoothly until then and that the production will not need to be halted in any way.
The truth of the matter right now is that things are still highly volatile at the moment due to the pandemic. We never really know what will happen on a day to day basis as some things just seem to keep getting worse and worse as time goes on. Despite this fact, Marvel Studios is continuing to do well and they are making sure that when all of this is over, for the most part, that we will have something to see on the big screen that lets us know they are working hard no matter what. The film industry hasn’t halted and they have been doing their best so that we will eventually get entertainment that we’ve been hoping for all of this time. Although ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is still a ways off from release, knowing that they will soon be working on the film is nothing short of exciting.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU, is now a massive worldwide franchise that focuses on the superheroes we all know and love from the Marvel Comics. The comics themselves have been around for many years now and even though the MCU only began back in 2008, superhero movies have been around far longer than that. Studios have been working on superhero films for years, but they could never quite land a solid hit with their films. Some films have become popular over the years with Sony’s ‘Spider-Man‘ in 2002 and Fox’s ‘X-Men‘ in 1999 being ranked as some of the best Marvel films outside of the MCU. That being said, there have not really been any Marvel films outside of the MCU that have done well with audiences.
After the start of the MCU, audiences discovered that there could actually be good shared universes for superhero movies. No longer would there be standalone superhero films where nothing of true consequence ends up happening. While the sequels for the aforementioned films played off the consequences of their original films, it is more interesting now to see how other heroes play off of another heroes consequences. Needless to say, the MCU has managed to mold together a universe where it is possible for us to see characters get their own stories while simultaneously sharing a universe with other heroes that have their own stories nearly flawlessly. There are some plot holes that have arisen over time, but fans have managed to largely overlook them as the MCU continues to deliver pretty strong stories.
Even if the stories begin to feel a little copy and paste in the long run, the stories themselves are unique to each character and show how they deal with their own problems. Not to mention, the interweaving of various characters’ stories is becoming more and more regular in the MCU which makes it possible for more interesting stories to be told. This makes it all more interesting in the long run with many new MCU films playing off of these dynamics that occur as a result. Multiple personalities are now able to take to the screen and show us a story that we are sure to remember in the future. Now that the MCU has grown to such massive proportions it has become much more normalized for their to be multiple forms of media involved with it.
While all of the outside content for the MCU has been decidedly turned into alternate canon by Disney, there has really been no show that is a part of the MCU yet. That is, yet, because Disney is now producing a whole slew of shows for the future that are centered around the MCU and will include characters that may end up being official parts of it as time goes on. Even though, in the very near future, we will be seeing shows for characters that we know and already recognize from the films, there will eventually be shows centered around entirely new characters. As Disney has already decided to make other shows non-canon for the MCU timelines, we will likely see new versions of them being produced in the future. In the meantime, however, it seems they are going to focus on characters they have in their films and characters that haven’t been seen yet on screen.
Most recently, we have discovered that they are even working on a character for a new show that many people would not recognize and that is ‘Moon Knight.’ This character is certainly a unique one to turn to when making a new show about a character that has yet to be seen on screen, but it will be fascinating for the same reason. Considering how many people have been a part of the MCU already, it was just a question of who they would get to play the character. Disney did not have to look too far as they found Oscar Issac who is known by Star Wars fans as Poe Dameron in the Sequel Trilogy. Considering how many actors Disney now has at its disposal, it is no surprise that they decided to simply circle back to one of their other casting choices for a previous project to find someone play an MCU character.
