1. Sonic the Hedgehog– ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ is going strong in its second weekend in the box office, having made $26.5 million for a total of $106.5 million.
2. The Call of the Wild– ‘The Call of the Wild’ did relatively well in its first week by bringing in $24.8 million bringing its gross amount to the same.
3. Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn– ‘Birds of Prey’ has dropped down the list another spot after bringing in $6.8 million for a total of $72.3 million.
4. Bad Boys for Life– ‘Bad Boys for Life’ brought in another $5.8 million for a, now, grand total of $191.2 million.
5. Brahms: The Boy II– ‘Brahms: The Boy II’ didn’t do so well from the start, having only brought in $5.8 million.
6. Fantasy Island– ‘Fantasy Island’ didn’t fare so well in its second week with $4.3 million for a total of $20.3 million.
7. 1917– ‘1917’ follows closely behind with $4.2 million which brings its total to $151.8 million.
8. Parasite– ‘Parasite’ brought in $3.0 million this past weekend which brings its total to $48.8 million.
9. Jumanji: The Next Level– ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’ continues to stay in the top 10 with $2.9 million, which brings its gross amount to $310.8 million.
10. The Photograph– ‘The Photograph’ is not doing well in its second week having brought in $2.8 million for a total of $17.6 million.
Outside of a parish in Fatima, Portugal during World War I there was a supposed encounter that changed the lives of an entire town. ‘Fatima’ tells the story of a 10-year-old girl and her two younger cousins. They claimed to have witnessed multiple visitations from the Virgin Mary. This causes a problem with the people in town when secularist government officials and church leaders want them to recant their story. Word of their sighting manages to spread, however, and people far and wide here about it.
The message that was brought by these supposed visitations was that the war would end only through prayer and suffering. As a result of word spreading through the country, religious pilgrims try their all in order to get to the town. This experience transforms their quiet lives and brings the attention of a world yearning for peace in a time where the world felt like it was on the brink of collapse. The movie is based off of supposed real life events that tested peoples’ faith.
‘Fatima’ stars Joaquim de Almeida (“Queen of the South”), Goran Višnjić (Beginners), Stephanie Gil (Terminator: Dark Fate) and Lúcia Moniz (Love, Actually), with Sônia Braga (Aquarius) and Harvey Keitel (The Piano, The Irishman). The film was directed by Marco Pontecorvo, Dick Lyles, and Stefano Buono. Produced by a team comprised of James T. Volk, Stefano Buono, Maribel Lopera Sierra, Marco Pontecorvo, Rose Ganguzza, and Natasha Howes through Picturehouse. ‘Fatima’ will premiere in theaters on April 24th, 2020.
‘My Spy’ tells the story of hardened CIA operative JJ and his most recent assignment. He has been demoted and as such has been forced into an undercover mission to watch a 9-year-old girl’s family. This precocious 9-year-old girl, named Sophie, finds him when she discovers hidden cameras in her apartment. Using her tech savviness, she locates where the surveillance operation is set. This leads to her discovery of him and her blackmail of him to learn spy skills.
JJ must do all he can to teach Sophie to be a spy so that she will not blow his cover. While trying to get out of the situation, he finds it to be nearly impossible. Sophie’s charm and wit makes JJ no match for the young girl, and could lead to a friendship no one would have expected. Through reluctance, any number of things can end up happening with these two.
‘My Spy’ stars Dave Bautista as main character JJ, and Chloe Coleman as secondary main character Sophie. The movie also stars Kristen Schaal and Ken Jeong as Bobbi Ault and Kim Trang respectively. The film is being directed by Peter Segal who was also responsible for the directing of the spy comedy ‘Get Smart.’ The script was penned by Jon and Erich Hoeber who were responsible for the screenplay of the movie ‘Red.’ The film is being released through STXfilms and will release in theaters to the public on March 13, 2020.
‘Star Wars: Episode IX- The Rise of Skywalker’ is meant to be the last of the mainline series of films. As such, a lot of people went to go and see the movie while it was in theaters. Of course, any who have seen it may want to see it again as much as they want. Also, there are probably many who wanted to see it but haven’t had the chance yet. All of these people will get the opportunity to watch it when it releases on Blu-Ray/DVD.
‘Rise of Skywalker’ sees the end of the beginning for Rey and her friends. We get to see their final all-out battle with the order that wishes to control the galaxy. There are a lot of things that end up happening in the movie to keep people entertained. With the Blu-Ray/DVD release, people will just have to be content with the film itself. With an over two-hour runtime, it should be enough to keep people entertained.
People need to be entertained with just the movie, because there really isn’t much else for them to look into. It seems that as of now, upon release, the movie will apparently not release with any additional bonuses. There is no official statement as of now that says what, if any, additional features will come with the movie on release. For some this may matter, and other, not so much. Regardless, the movie will release to Blu-Ray/DVD on March 31st 2020.
For many, a mother’s love is something that makes people feel safe and secure. Sometimes, however, that love can be a bit too over-the-top and can cause more harm than good. ‘Run’ shows us what a lifestyle ruled over by a controlling parent can be like. Similar, in a way, to the movie ‘Carrie,’ a doting mother tries to control her daughter’s life. Unlike ‘Carrie’ though, this daughter has no apparent powers to free herself. She must do what she can to get away, even if it means just running.
Mother Diane has raised her daughter in total isolation, controlling every move she’s made since birth. Daughter Chloe’s only beginning to grasp just how horrific her mother’s secrets can be. When those secrets get a little too dangerous for her own safety, what choice will she have left. She will have no choice left but to ‘Run.’
The movie stars Sarah Paulson and introduces Kiera Allen in her first starring role as Chloe. ‘Run’ is directed by Aneesh Chaganty, the director of 2018 thriller ‘Searching.’ It is produced by Natalie Qasabian, p.g.a., Sev Ohanian, p.g.a. Produced by Lionsgate, ‘Run’ is an official Search Party production. It will release to theaters on May 8th, 2020.
‘Never Rarely Sometimes Always’ tells the intimate story of two teenage girls in Pennsylvania. Those girls must go on a journey after one of them unexpectedly ends up pregnant. Due to a lack of local support, teen Autumn and her cousin Skylar must travel to New York City. The journey she must go on is one of friendship and courage when she wants to terminate her pregnancy.
The movie stars Sidney Flanigan, and co-stars Talia Ryder along with Théodore Pellerin, Ryan Eggold, and Sharon Van Etten. ‘Never Rarely Sometimes Always’ is directed by director/writer Eliza Hittman (Beach Rats). This drama is certainly one that is controversial in nature, but it is one that tells an important story nonetheless.It will be released to the public through Focus Features on March 13, 2020.
