‘Venom 2’ is, for sure, meant to be a much darker film, but we have to be hopeful that the movie can be its darker self. The only way for that to even be possible is if the movie gets its R-rating that it deserves. Given the track record for comic book movies with an R-rating, hopefully we will get news soon about the rating of the film. This film could be a terrifying experience with plenty of action, but we need to have that R-rating for any of it to matter.
Venom is one of Spider-Man’s, actually Marvel’s, most well-known and most well-received villains. So, it would make some kind of sense to include another of the most well-known to the series, Carnage. The only problem at this point, obviously, is that Carnage is easily one of the most brutal characters in the entirety of the Marvel Universe. With a villain that will surely leave a trail of blood behind him, what else can we say except that it should be an experience that is usually only seen in horror movies.
‘Venom 2’ isn’t a story just about Carnage though, it’s about the continuation of the story of Eddie Brock and the Venom symbiote. What makes this movie even more potentially interesting is the fact that it is being directed by actor Andy Serkis, who is known for his impressive motion capture work on franchises such as The Lord of the Rings and Planet of the Apes. With that in mind, we can safely assume, in my opinion, that the movements of the characters will be portrayed properly. With characters that are formed by an alien lifeform and move fluidly, it is always nice to have someone working on the film who would understand how that should look.
To be honest, I am a huge fan of the characters and I want to see a movie featuring the two done right. A dark action film is just the right call for a movie with a plot like this one and could even make the film do better than the first ‘Venom’ did in theaters. Carnage has his name for a reason and the audience will more than likely want to see exactly how he obtained his moniker. I am just extremely excited, yet curious to see whether or not this movie will be a wash. I am very much hopeful, however, that we will see the R-rating we are hoping for, and we get the movie that we want.
1. Onward– Onward, as expected, did pretty well on its opening weekend after it brought in $40 million which also brings its gross to the same amount.
2. The Invisible Man– In its second week, The Invisible Man continues to do relatively well with $15.1 million, which brings its total to $52.7 million.
3. The Way Back– On its opening weekend, The Way Back didn’t do as well as it may have been expected to, raking in $8.5 million as a gross amount.
4. Sonic the Hedgehog– Sonic is continuing to bring in some money with $8.0 million for the weekend for a now total amount of $140.8 million.
5. The Call of the Wild– The Call of the Wild is still raking in a bit of money with $7.0 million in its third weekend for a total of $57.5 million
6. Emma.– In its third week, Emma brought in a bit more than it has been with $5.0 million, for a gross of $6.9 million.
7. Bad Boys for Life– Even after two months, Bad Boys for Life is still up with $3.1 million for a total of $202.0 million.
8. Bird of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn– With a little over five weeks in theaters, Birds of Prey isn’t doing very well. With a Box Office of $2.2 million this past weekend, its gross total now sits at $82.6 million.
9. Impractical Jokers: The Movie– Impractical Jokers isn’t doing very well in its third week, with only $1.8 million for a total of $9.7 million.
10. My Hero Academia- Heroes: Rising– The My Hero Academia movie isn’t doing so hot either with $1.5 million this past weekend for a total of $12.7 million.
1. The Invisible Man- ‘The Invisible Man’ had a relatively good opening weekend after people assumed that it wouldn’t do well, but with $28.2 million it’s obvious that the movie did better than expected.
2. Sonic the Hedgehog- In its third weekend since its release, ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ continues to do well, having brought in $16.3 million for a total of $128.6 million.
3. The Call of the Wild- ‘The Call of the Wild’ brought in a total of $13.4 million this weekend, bringing its total gross to $46 million.
4. My Hero Academia- The Movie- Heroes: Rising- ‘My Hero Academia’ had its opening weekend in the U.S. with an amount of $5.9 million for a total of $9.2 million.
5. Bad Boys for Life- Continuing to sell seats, we have ‘Bad Boys for Life’ bringing in $4.4 million for a gross total of $197.4 million.
6. Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn- Following closely behind that, ‘Birds of Prey’ brought in $4.1 million for a total of $78.8 million.
7. Impractical Jokers: The Movie- Not doing so well in its second theatrical release weekend, ‘Impractical Jokers: The Movie’ raked in $3.6 million for a total of $6.7 million.
8. 1917- Continuing to sell seats, ‘1917’ sold $2.7 million for a gross total of $155.9 million.
9. Brahms: The Boy II- ‘The Boy II’ isn’t doing much better in its second week with only $2.6 million for a gross total of $9.8 million.
10. Fantasy Island- Going into its third week, ‘Fantasy Island’ isn’t doing much better with $2.3 million, bringing it to a grand total of $24.1 million.
Politics can be messy and and in the game of politics, comedy can easily be observed. ‘Irresistible’ is a film that is meant to show just that and give us an entertaining film to watch. The movie is one of many political satires that has been released through the years and will continue the trend of showing us the inner workings of a political campaign. Seeing the inner workings of the political system from a viewpoint like this is what a comedy is all about.
‘Irresistible’ sees a Democratic political strategist trying to turn a military veteran into the face of a small right-wing Wisconsin town. In order to try and take back the Heartland, strategist Gary tries to get a retired veteran to become mayor in his town. Following a video of the man standing up for undocumented workers, he believes that he would make the perfect face for the Democratic Party. This movie follows his endeavors in trying to do just that.
This movie stars Steve Carell, Rose Byrne, Chris Cooper, Topher Grace, Natasha Lyonne, Mackenzie Davis, CJ Wilson, and Will Sasso. ‘Irresistible’ is directed, written, and produced by Jon Stewart. The movie is also produced by Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Lila Yacoub. This comedy is meant to be a look into the left versus right side of politics and will certainly be a film to look forward to. The movie releases to theaters on May 29th 2020.
‘Blue Story’ tells the story of two friends who went to the same school but unfortunately live in neighboring London boroughs. Best friends Timmy and Marco attend high school together in Peckham, but nothing is meant to last. Marco ends up being beaten by a couple of Timmy’s primary school friends. This sets the two of them off on two entirely different paths involving two separate, but dangerous gangs.
The story of the movie is one that is based off of youtuber Rapman’s series of the same name. So, in his directorial debut, he is also the narrator for the movie. The movie is narrated, funny enough, through the medium of rap. ‘Blue Story’ is based around his childhood and depicts the real life gangs, the Peckham Boys and Ghetto Boys. This film has already been said to be a “powerful depiction of the futility of gang violence.”
‘Blue Story’ stars Stephen Odubola, Micheal Ward, Rohan Nedd, Kadeem Ramsay, Khali Best, and Junior Afolabi Salokun. The movie, as said already is being directed by Rapman, real name Andrew Onwubolu. Since it is based on Rapman’s youtube series of the same name, of course he is also responsible for writing the screenplay for the movie. This movie is being produced by Damian Jones and Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor. ‘Blue Story’ will release to theaters in the United States on the 20th of March 2020.
‘The Way Back’ is a sports drama about a former basketball all-star who must contend with the demons of his past after he becomes the coach of his alma mater. This former star was once offered a scholarship to the perennial power house college basketball program. This would have brought him to the University of Kansas, but he turned the scholarship down. As an adult, he struggles with alcoholism which is destroying his life, but he gets something like a second chance. As the team start to win, he must confront his demons to make his team a success.
‘The Way Back’ stars Ben Affleck, Al Madrigal, Michaela Watkins, and Janina Gavankar. The movie is directed by Gavin O’Connor whose most recent movie was ‘The Accountant.’ The movie is produced by Gordon Gray, Jennifer Todd, Gavin O’Connor, and Ravi Mehta. The movie is set to be released this upcoming Friday, March 6th, 2020.
